Climate Change Practitioner Guidance
The Law Society’s Climate Change Practitioner Guidance has been updated to include a section on the relevance of the guidance to in-house solicitors (including in the public sector and academia) and its Annexure B: Climate Change Guidance: Advising on Climate Risk also has a new section on rural property transactions. The guidance will be updated again for the upcoming climate-related financial disclosure regime. For more information see here.
Public Consultation for the Proposed Law Society of New Wales Professional Standards Scheme beginning 22 November 2024
The Law Society of New South Wales has prepared a professional standards scheme under the Professional Standards Act 1994 (NSW). Each state and territory has professional standards legislation to:
- protect consumers of professional services and other occupational services;
- improve occupational standards;
- allow scheme participants to limit their civil liability.

Bugmy Bar Book Update: New Chapter Published
The Bugmy Bar Book has published a new chapter: Child Abuse and Neglect. A quintessential chapter that is one of three Bugmy Bar Book chapters considering the specific impacts of different forms of child abuse and neglect. This chapter can be read in conjunction with Childhood, Infant and Perinatal Exposure to, and Experience of, Domestic & Family Violence and Childhood Sexual Abuse.

NSW Land Registry Services fee increases
The revised fee schedule came into effect on 1 July 2024 and is available here.

Annual NSW courts and tribunals fee increases from 1 July 2024 
The fees payable in NSW courts and tribunals increased from 1 July 2024 to reflect changes to the consumer price index over the past financial year. This is an automatic increase provided for by legislation. The updated fee schedules for the relevant courts and tribunals are available as follows:
