Daily responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Managing and advising on matters relating to divorce, separation, property settlements, parenting arrangements, child support, and spousal maintenance.
 - Preparing legal documentation, including affidavits, applications, consent orders, binding financial agreements, and correspondence.
 - Conducting client interviews, providing clear and empathetic legal advice.
 - Assisting your director with clients at mediations, settlement conferences, and court appearances.
 - Staying updated with changes in family law legislation, case law, and court procedures.
 - Maintaining accurate and timely file management and billing records.
 - Develop and maintain strong client relationships through excellent communication and service.
 - Contribute to the growth of the practice through networking and client development.
 
What we are looking for:
- 2-4 years post-admission experience in family law.
 - Solid experience managing files independently.
 - Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and legal procedures.
 - Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
 - A client-focused approach with a high level of professionalism and integrity.
 - Ability to work collaboratively as well as autonomously.
 - Current practicing certificate.

Illawarra Legal Centre ILC is looking for two full-time Generalist Solicitors to join our team. One role is ongoing, while the second is a 12-month fixed-term contract, offering an exciting opportunity to make a real impact in the community.
Position description
Illawarra Legal Centre’s (ILC) Generalist Solicitors provide free legal services to people living in the Illawarra Region. ILC is committed to assisting people to access their legal rights. The Generalist Solicitor provides advice, casework and community legal education across a range of legal areas including employment, victims’ support, discrimination, and generalist law, prioritising clients experiencing social and economic disadvantage. This position is primarily based at ILC’s office based in Wollongong. The position will require travel to outreach locations, across the Illawarra and occasional out of hours work to support evening advice.
Essential Criteria
1. Immediately eligible to hold a practicing certificate issued by the Law Society of NSW.
2. Demonstrated experience providing legal services to people who have experienced social and/ or economic disadvantage.
3. Self-management skills with strong attention to detail, and ability to work to deadlines while delivering high quality services.
4. Excellent all round communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and respectfully in a way that can be understood by our clients.
5. Effective interpersonal skills including being a team player, open to feedback, critical thinking and problem solving, self-confidence, and flexibility.
