Thursday 9 July 2026 · 5.30pm - 8.00pm
To mark NAIDOC 2026, the Law Society of NSW invites you to a special evening celebrating this year’s theme, ‘50 Years of Deadly’.
Join us for an engaging discussion with leading voices from the legal profession, reflecting on progress over the past five decades and the work still to be done to support and strengthen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representation in law.
Our esteemed panel includes:
Professor Jack Beetson, a Ngemba man who has been working in Indigenous education for many years
Chris Ronalds AO SC, appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2018 for distinguished service to the law and the legal profession, particularly in supporting, mentoring and developing the careers of Indigenous lawyers and law students
Chaired by Danielle Captain-Webb, a proud Gomeroi and Wiradjuri woman and Councillor at the Law Society of NSW.
The event will also celebrate the launch of the Indigenous Solicitors Foundation (ISF), a registered charity set up by the Law Society of NSW to strengthen our profession and ensure our legal system better represents the diversity of our community. The ISF aims to increase the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lawyers practicing law in NSW.
