Extension of charge certification period - Christmas shutdown
The Chief Magistrate has advised that he has approved the NSW DPP’s request to temporarily extend the charge certification period usually required under Committals Practice Note 2 to take account of the compulsory Christmas shutdown period. Accordingly, his Honour has extended the adjournment period for charge certification from six weeks to eight weeks until the end of term for 2019. Magistrates have been advised of this change and should make orders in accordance with the extended period for those matters where charge certification is affected by the Christmas shutdown.
