The Law Society’s Locum Service connects firms seeking short or fixed-term assistance with experienced substitute solicitors.

For over 20 years, this interim staffing solution has helped firms facing a range of situations, from solicitors needing to take an unexpected break, to those looking for extra or specialised help during a busy project.

To be registered with the Service, our locums must be solicitors with a current practising certificate and have a minimum of five-year’s post admission experience.


  • Time-saving, tailored solution – Locums matched according to specific needs, such as area of practice and location.
  • Knowledgeable candidates – Access a state-wide pool of locum solicitors with 15 to 20 years experience on average.


Any firm and/or solicitor can use the Locum Service to post assignments and access interim staff.
