At this year’s Opening of Law Term Dinner, I announced my President’s Charity: The Justice and Equity Centre’s Homeless Persons’ Legal Service. The Service removes legal barriers that prevent people from securing safe housing, and I am proud to support its vital work.

Farewell sitting for Judge Robyn Tupman
Judge Robyn Tupman is retiring from the District Court after 30 years on the bench. A bench farewell for her Honour will be held on Friday, 27 February at 9.00am in Court 21A, Level 21, John Maddison Tower. For those unable to attend the ceremony in person, the farewell will be livestreamed and available to view here.

Digital Birth Certificate coming soon
From March 2026, NSW-born people aged 16–21 who hold a NSW photo card or driver licence will be able to add a digital birth certificate (DBC) to the Service NSW app. The DBC is a secure digital version of the paper certificate, with the same legal standing, and will be stored alongside other digital IDs. Contract for the sale and purchase of land 2026 edition
The Contract for the sale and purchase of land 2026 edition, containing the new cooling off notice, is scheduled for release on Monday, 2 March 2026. Under the transitional provisions, a contract or option can include either the old or new form of the cooling off notice up until Sunday, 31 May 2026, which you can read more about here. The Contract for the sale and purchase of land 2022 edition will be withdrawn from sale on Friday, 13 March 2026.
