Justice Legislation Amendment Act (No 2) 2019 No 20
Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Act 1986 to require the indictable offence of supplying prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis under the Drug Misuse and Trafficking Act 1985 to be dealt with summarily, unless the prosecutor or person charged elects to have the offence dealt with on indictment, commenced on 30 April 2021.

The Supreme Court (Criminal Appeal) Rules 2021 provide for the practice and procedure in the Court of Criminal Appeal, repeal the Criminal Appeal Rules and commenced on 1 May 2021.

New features on the NSW legislation website
New features have been added to the NSW legislation website, including: a My favourites link which enables the creation of a saved list of hyperlinks to frequently used titles, the ability to resize the contents pane and a weekly most popular titles list. Land tax can now be managed online with Service NSW
Revenue NSW, in partnership with Service NSW, has launched a new service that allows property owners to manage their land tax online within their MyServiceNSW account. Read more.

Indigenous Injustice: The Myall Creek Massacre
The Supreme Court of NSW invites members of the legal profession to remotely attend “Indigenous Injustice: The Myall Creek Massacre” which will be presented by author Mark Tedeschi AM QC. Mr Tedeschi’s book, “Murder at Myall Creek” explores the efforts of John Plunkett, NSW Solicitor General and Attorney General, (1832 -1856), in prosecuting one of Australia’s most shocking massacres. Hosted by Michael Herring, General Counsel, Macquarie Group and with introductory comments from Chief Justice of NSW, the Hon. TF Bathurst AC. The event will be broadcast live on YouTube at 5pm Wednesday 5 May 2021, from where the trial took place in 1838, Court 3 of the NSW Supreme Court.

Personal Injury Commission stand-alone Motor Accidents Legal Portal
The Personal Injury Commission has launched a new stand-alone Legal Portal, separate to the SIRA Legal Portal, for motor accident dispute applications. Access the Personal Injury Commission Legal Portal from the Personal Injury Commission website or from Sira.force.com/piclegal. The SIRA Legal Portal should continue to be used for claims cost disclosures. Both portals can be accessed using your existing username and password.
