PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Rural Issues Conference: supporting regional and rural solicitors

During the course of the year I have made it a priority to meet with solicitors working in regional and rural areas of our state to learn more about their challenges and concerns and how we, as a member organisation, can support them in their practice.

Around 12 per cent of the state’s 34,000 solicitors live and work in rural areas. Twenty-two per cent of sole practitioners and 27 per cent of firms with two to four partners are located in country NSW. Continue reading >

Evaluation of the Civil Dispute Resolution Act 2011 - Practitioners survey
The Attorney-General’s Department is evaluating the Civil Dispute Resolution Act 2011 based on court data, academic and judicial commentary, and responses to this survey, which will help to understand the experiences of administrative and judicial officers, lawyers and ADR practitioners with the Act and their views on its effectiveness. Discontinuance of mine subsidence certificates
Subsidence Advisory NSW will cease issuing Certificates under Section 15B & 15C of the former Mine Subsidence Compensation Act 1961 today and from 1 October 2019 will no longer accept new certificate requests.
