Following the Bondi Beach incident last December, many people across our profession experienced a wide range of emotional responses, including shock, sadness, fear, anger, and confusion.
In this instalment of Staying Well in the Law, Wellbeing Manager Anna Fischer will explore why experiences of distress can feel different when we have a personal connection to an event. For some, this may relate to being nearby, knowing someone affected, or grappling with difficult emotions that are hard to make sense of.
The session will examine themes such as survivor’s guilt, memory and relevance, moral injury, and vicarious trauma, and will offer practical strategies for supporting clients and colleagues as recovery continues.
