State Election Platform to be released tomorrow
One of my final public duties in this role will be to launch the Law Society’s 2019 State Election Platform in Sydney tomorrow, which details the key areas of law reform that all political parties need to address after the March 23 election.
The state’s 35,000 solicitors perform a valuable role in the community, whether it be through the provision of expert advice, pro bono services, or community legal education. They have a crucial role to play in defending the rights of the citizen, providing people with independent legal advice and representing them when their interests are at stake.
The very nature of solicitors’ work means they engage with a diverse range of people, placing them in a unique position to identify the areas of our legal system where there is room for improvement.
