Lawyer Mediator Accreditation Scheme open to Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners
The Lawyer Mediator Accreditation Scheme (LMA Scheme) has opened membership to Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners (FDRPs). The LMA Scheme offers a straightforward path to accreditation allowing members to distinguish themselves in the market as both practising solicitors and qualified mediators. LMA Scheme accredited solicitors offer parties a clearer choice as to the best qualified person to guide their dispute through to resolution. More information including how to apply is linked here.

NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT) Procedural Direction 8 – Timetable for providing evidence in Guardianship Division proceedings
This Procedural Direction explains when parties to certain types of proceedings in the Guardianship Division are required to lodge documents or other material with the NCAT and give that material to the other parties to the proceedings, for that material to be considered as evidence in the proceedings. It commences on 13 July 2026 and may be accessed on the NCAT website here.
Change to the Legal Aid NSW Family Law Policies
The Legal Aid NSW Board has approved changes to the Commonwealth Family Law Policies. From 1 July 2026 legal aid is only available for family law matters to applicants who are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander persons, or have or are experiencing domestic or family violence. More information.
