Let's get physical!

President's Message | Monday 8 April 2024

Easter is often regarded as being symbolic of new beginnings. I hope you returned from the short break last week refreshed and invigorated.

But let’s not pretend that a few days off is enough to ease the exhaustion that can all too easily overtake many solicitors, even if they are vigilant about wellbeing.

This is one of the reasons why the health and wellbeing of the profession is one of my President’s Priorities for 2024.

As I said in my speech at the Opening of Law Term Dinner, a sizeable proportion of lawyers feel concerned about access to mental and physical health services, and we want to remove these barriers.

So, it’s with a great deal of excitement that I’m able to share the Law Society has entered into a twelve-month agreement with WHEREFIT to offer members exclusive discounts on activewear, gyms, studios, healthy meals, self-care, supplements, recovery and more.

Members can access more than 2,500 unique offers at up to 50 per cent off a wide range of leading fitness and wellbeing brands to help you perform at your best with big discounts available at:

  • Fitness First (limited time 25 per cent off selected memberships)
  • HelloFresh (up to 40 per cent off)
  • City Cave (25 per cent off)
  • Sweat App (20 per cent off monthly memberships)
  • Anytime Fitness (up to 15 per cent off at selected locations)
  • Speedo (up to 20 per cent off)
  • PCYC (15 per cent off a month-to-month membership)
  • Bikes Online (15 per cent off)
  • My Muscle Chef ($25 off plus 10 per cent off ongoing orders)
  • New Balance (20 per cent off) and much more!

Sign up for your free WHEREFIT account here to unlock your new fitness and wellbeing benefits today.

See you at the gym!

Renewal rush

We’re now a little under a week into our 2024-25 Practising Certificate renewal cycle. The Law Society’s online renewal platform aims to make this process as painless as possible.

Once you’ve completed your renewal, you’ll be directed to a survey. I encourage all practitioners to spare the four minutes it takes to complete this. All information collected is anonymous and confidential. More importantly, it helps inform our Annual Profiles of Solicitors in NSW, painting a complete picture of the profession and assisting the Law Society to help you and plan for the future.
