Work-induced burnout is prevalent, and some lawyers are drinking at increasingly risky rates to cope with work-related pressures.

Today's professionals are saturated with wellness tips, but too many get caught in a burnout and alcohol spiral from which it is difficult to escape. Drawing on her own experience with burnout and an alcohol use disorder, as well as her work supporting lawyers in her counselling practice, Isabella Ferguson, Registered Counsellor and Alcohol Master Coach, will discuss:

  • Tips for recognising the early warning signs of burnout and the development of problematic coping mechanisms
  • Understanding the effects burnout and alcohol consumption can have on physical and mental health
  • Motivating and practical steps to overcome the struggle and get back on track
  • Where to seek support when you need it.

It's easy to adopt unhealthy habits to compensate for work-related pressures. While your vice may not be alcohol, this presentation is relevant to all lawyers interested in learning more about recognising signs of burnout in themselves and others.
