President of the Law Society of NSW, Juliana Warner, said the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, the Hon Tom Bathurst AC, has made a significant and lasting contribution to the service of the law and the administration of justice in our state.

“His Honour is universally respected and has that rare mix of a brilliant intellect, common sense, humanity and good humour,” Ms Warner said.

“In more recent times, the Chief Justice has displayed outstanding leadership in guiding our Courts through the uncertainties of the pandemic.

“Our state has benefited enormously from his time leading the Supreme Court.

“On behalf of the state’s 36,000 solicitors, and all who come into contact with the NSW judicial system, I thank the Chief Justice for his years of service, including more than a decade as the highest ranking judicial officer in this state.

“The Law Society looks forward to formally thanking the Chief Justice at his official farewell ceremony when he steps down in 2022.”
