The holiday season can bring connection, celebration and rest, but it can also place solicitors and their clients under additional personal and professional pressure.

From navigating complex and widespread social expectations to juggling holiday events and work functions, caregiving responsibilities, this time of year can bring rising anxiety, resurgences of unhealthy coping habits, and high emotional demands. The pressure to appear grateful, festive and resilient can, in reality, leave individuals feeling isolated, misunderstood and drained. This can negatively impact solicitors and their work with clients in various ways, especially when there are no clear support strategies in place.

In this session, Anna Fischer and Josephine Waugh will lead participants through practical ways to prepare for and navigate the holiday period with greater awareness, self-compassion and healthy boundaries by delving into:

  • Why the holiday season can activate such strong emotional responses
  • How personal experiences, individual differences and difficult memories can shape the way we experience the holidays
  • Ways to support clients through periods of high financial, emotional, and familial strain
  • Strategies for navigating social gatherings, protecting professional reputation and setting boundaries with family and friends
