From 13 July 2026, all fresh EAGP matters from the Sutherland area (St George and Sutherland Police Area Commands) will be filed in Sutherland Local Court instead of the Downing Centre Local Court. Buying and selling property factsheets for water access licence (WAL) and approvals
Practitioners should note key requirements when water licences and approvals are involved. WaterNSW is automatically notified when the title is transferred and issues an updated statement of approval. Where a WAL is included, a s71M Transfer must be lodged with LRS by a legal representative as part of the settlement process. Incorrect handling can cause delays or disrupt water rights. WaterNSW has developed approvals and licences fact sheets to assist.
