The Law Society of NSW congratulates Peter Rosier, Principal Solicitor of Rosier Partners Lawyers, Annandale and the 2020 winner of the prestigious Law Society of NSW President’s Medal.

Peter RosierThe President’s Medal is an annual award acknowledging an NSW solicitor and member of the Law Society who has made a significant personal and professional contribution to the improvement of law and justice in the community.

President of the Law Society of NSW, Richard Harvey, said in 2020, the award recognises Peter Rosier’s outstanding contribution over many decades to the development of property law and policy in NSW.

Peter Rosier has nearly 50 years of experience in legal practice and is currently a member of the Law Society’s Property Law Committee, where he has served since 1998. An Accredited Specialist in Property Law since 1997, Peter Rosier also serves on the Property Law Advisory Committee for the Society’s Specialist Accreditation Scheme and is a member of the Society’s Costs Committee.

“Peter has been a key figure in the Law Society's advocacy for electronic conveyancing and has played a pivotal role in preparing practitioners for the change,” Mr Harvey said.

“The President’s Medal is a fitting acknowledgement of Peter’s immense support to the legal profession and his service to the law.”

In accepting the President’s Medal, Peter Rosier said it was both a pleasure and a surprise to receive the medal, particularly given the calibre of winners from previous years.

“To have been considered at all for this honour is a mystery but to find myself in such company is bewildering,” Mr Rosier said.

“My profession is full of generous, hard-working folk, women and men in equal parts these days, who are prepared to spend their time helping out their communities, people in need of legal help, in service clubs, in charities and undertaking pro bono work, or indeed providing help to the profession itself.”

The Law Society also congratulates Ruth Pollard, Director of Legal and Professional Services at the NSW Trustee and Guardian, and the 2020 winner of the Highly Commended category. Ruth Pollard has contributed to reforms that have benefited the clients of the NSW Trustee and Guardian over many years. She also has an impressive track-record promoting the rights of people with disabilities and the welfare of animals, all of which is demonstrated by her extensive volunteer work.
