Practising law is a challenging career. The Law Society connects you to a range of resources to help you boost performance.
We offer a range of business services to help law practices and individual solicitors maximise efficiency and productivity. Our Legal Information Officer can assist with general guidance across a range of areas, including business, criminal, employment, family, general litigation, property, powers of attorney, and wills and estates. We can help you sell or buy a legal practice, and our locum service provides quick solutions for immediate resourcing needs. The Lawyers Assistance Program is a free, confidential service for solicitors experiencing practice management issues. The program coordinator is an experienced solicitor who can refer members to counsellors, agencies or schemes for assistance.
Professional standards and compliance
We can assist with ethics, costs and compliance issues. Our Professional Conduct Advisory Panel provides support to solicitors subject to disciplinary proceedings, including complaints, show cause events, and trust accounting issues.
Our Solicitor Referral Service helps members of the public find law firms appropriate for their individual circumstances, while our Pro Bono Scheme connects firms willing to provide pro bono assistance for disadvantaged members of the community in need of legal services.
