Activities
Although the Property Law Committee is relatively new, we have worked hard to establish a number of initiatives including:
- Gazumped, the Property Law Committee's electronic newsletter. This informs property practitioners on the latest developments and updates in property law from case notes, interesting articles, watching briefs and relevant updates regarding practice and procedure
- Continuing Legal Education (CLE). We have a very active program and are always interested in receiving suggestions for seminars or feedback on a Young Lawyers Property Law Committee seminar you attended
- Redrafting the Law Society’s Conveyancing Protocol for Solicitors and Agents
- Submissions on behalf of Young Lawyers Property Practitioners in connection with any proposed legislative reforms or government discussion papers released for industry feedback. If any proposed reform or discussion papers interest you, please e-mail the Chair at propertylaw.chair@younglawyers.com.au and we will see if there are other interest people to form a sub-committee to prepare a submission
- Social Housing Initiatives to Educate, Lead and Develop communities (SHIELD). This is the newest project of the committee; members have the opportunity to get involved in a number of rewarding activities including providing free legal workshops to poor communities, volunteer work overseas, producing tenant information publications.
