Animal Law Conference 2007

The Young Lawyers Animal Law Committee made history on 6 & 7 July 2007, when it held Australia's first Animal Law Conference at the University of New South Wales. The conference was a sell out, attracting academics, solicitors, barristers, members of government departments and law students from across Australia.

The theme of the conference was 'The Future of Animal Law in Australia' and its highlights included keynote speakers, thought provoking and stimulating panel sessions, as well as a cocktail function.

Speakers included representatives from parliament, universities, animal welfare groups, law firms and public offices. See the conference programme for speaker profiles and additional information.

The Committee would like to thank its fantastic speakers as well as Voiceless, the fund for animals, Animal Liberation NSW and the City of Sydney for their generous support of the conference.
