Care and lifestyle solutions

The Law Society offers child care and lifestyle solutions through two partner organisations – McArthur Management Services and Families at Work.

McArthur Management Services

McArthur Management Services specialises in the placement of early childhood personnel and in-home carers, carefully screened and matched to each family. McArthur’s In-Home Childcare Service can assist with regular care arrangements and in emergency situations.

Registration

The Law Society recommends registering your family with McArthur as soon as possible – even if you do not currently envisage needing the service. Prior registration enables assistance in a stressful emergency situation. Registration is free.

To register:

1. Download and complete the forms in the The Law Society In Home Childcare Service Information Guide.
2. Return the completed forms to McArthur Management Services.

Once your forms are received, a McArthur consultant will visit where the care or assistance is to be provided to undertake a Home Safety Assessment for occupational health and safety reasons.

On completion of registration, McArthur will assess your family requirements and recommend a carer. A family and carer interview will be arranged with the final decision as to the suitability of the carer being made by the family.

Making a booking

When care is required, call McArthur to book the carer. The McArthur Sydney office is serviced five days from 6.00am to 6.00pm. Children's Services and associated services are service on a 24 hour 7 day a week basis.

Response times

In response to a request from a Family for In-Home Care assistance, McArthur will provide a carer in line with the following response times:

• Same Day Placements - response to urgent same day placements takes priority over everything else. Bookings will usually be confirmed within a 1 hour period. Carers are generally able to arrive between one hour and one and a half hours after being requested.
• Next Day/Advance Placements - McArthur will respond within a 3 hour period and confirm details of the carer and/or advise how they have progressed with your particular request.

Families at Work

Families at Work is a leading work|life consultancy that helps people balance their work and personal life commitments by providing individually tailored information and resources.

• pet care needs, such as:

transportation
kennels
grooming
exercising and training.

To help Families At Work provide the fastest and best results regarding your needs in respect of child care, download and complete the relevant form and return it to Families at Work:

Child Care Form - for children aged 0-5 years

Child Care Form - for primary and secondary school children aged 5 or more years

Costs

The consultation fee for the provision of individually tailored information and resources to Law Society members is $200 per hour (plus GST), billed in 15 minute time blocks.

The fee will be charged as follows:

• $150 flag fall fee debited to the member's credit card upon completion of the initial query, and
• After delivery of the completed report, the payment on invoice of the total cost of the provision of the service (calculated by taking the final invoice cost less the flag fall fee, plus an administration fee of $10.00 plus GST).
