Ethics education
Expert staff of the Law Society can visit firms’ premises to provide tailored education on best legal practice and procedure.
The Law Society’s In-House Ethics Program addresses the need to adapt to national issues and a changing profession, whilst providing a range of expanded education services to meet continuing professional development (CPD) requirements.

Program options
Choose from a series of courses including:
- Short course (maximum duration 1 hour) – ideal for lunchtime breaks.
- Half-day course (morning or afternoon of about 3 hours).
- Full-day course.
Program content
Course content addresses issues of the Professional Conduct and Practice Rules 1987 and leads into the new National Model Bill and Regulations outlining key issues of Ethics in the context of a National Profession.
Topics
The Introductory Course covers:
- practical ethics
- current issues on ethics in practice.
The Revised Professional Conduct and Practice Rules Course covers:
- dealings with:
clients, including conflicts of interest, termination of retainers, confidentiality
other solicitors
third parties
- duties to the court
- legal practice.
