Ethical Communications in the 21st Century

Presented by John Eades, President of the Law Society of NSW

Announcing a series of Law Society CPD seminars delivered in regional areas, focusing on ethics and professional responsibility. Our objective is to provide quality CPD in a collegiate environment, focusing on the importance of both to ethical behaviour.


Topics include:

Legal Ethics and the importance of Ethics in a democratic society

An Introduction by President Eades to communications with particular focus on benefits of regional collegiality in communications.

How to use 21st century communications ethically and legally

Tips on emails, privacy and encryption, engagement in social media.

Ethical considerations under the Legal Profession Uniform Law

An exploration of the new rules in an ethical context, focusing on confidentiality, abusive communications, court communications, privilege and conflict.

How to avoid (valid) complaints – Q & A session

A focus on where complaints are arising that relate to communications and what the lessons are learnt from this.
