Client fact sheets
Under the Legal Profession Act 2004, the Law Society is required to provide the public with accessible information about their rights in regards to solicitor’s fees and challenging legal costs.
In response, the Law Society has produced two client fact sheets in consultation with the Attorney General’s Department, the Bar Association and the Legal Services Commissioner.
How to use
Solicitors do not have to supply these fact sheets to clients. You may simply direct them to the Your relationship with your solicitor section of this website.
If you feel that your client does not have sufficient access to the Internet you may attach printouts.
The first fact sheet Legal costs – your right to know goes with a costs agreement and cost disclosure. See Form 2 on the Precedents and forms section of this website.
The second fact sheet Your right to challenge legal costs goes with a bill of costs. See Form 3 on the Precedents and forms section of this website.
