Bullying and Sexual Harassment in the Legal Profession

Thursday 1 August 2019

In 2018, the International Bar Association conducted the largest-ever survey on bullying and sexual harassment in the legal profession worldwide.

The results were published in a landmark report in May, with one in three women lawyers and one in 14 men reporting experiencing sexual harassment at work. Adding to this, 38 per cent of lawyers reported being bullied.

The Law Society recognises that these results are unedifying. But it is essential that we shine a light on bullying and harassment as we move towards creating healthier and more inclusive workplaces for all lawyers. It’s why we have partnered with the International Bar Association (IBA) to launch the findings of the report at an exclusive event for legal leaders in Australia.
