Finding a solicitor
Choosing the right solicitor or firm is the first step in achieving your legal goals. But when you’re in need of legal help it may be difficult to know what to do and who to turn to.
The Law Society of New South Wales can point you in the right direction. One of our principal responsibilities is to connect the legal profession with the community.
We provide information and referral services that can help you quickly identify qualified solicitors that offer legal services appropriate for your needs.
We can assist people who are able to pay for legal services and sometimes we can help those that can’t.
Find a Lawyer – search our online database of all current practising solicitors in New South Wales.
Solicitor Referral Service – receive contact details of law firms suitable for your needs via personalised telephone and email assistance, or online for your convenience.
Pro Bono Scheme – for people who are unable to pay for legal help and have been refused a grant of Legal Aid.
Specialist Accreditation Scheme – how to identify solicitors who have specialist skills and experience.
After-hours assistance in criminal law – list of solicitors who specialise in criminal law who can be contacted outside normal business hours.
Locating Australian legal practitioners – links to other Australian law societies and bar associations for locating solicitors and barristers in other states and territories.
