About the role:

Multiple roles - Senior Arbitrator and Arbitrator

Workers Compensation Commission

The organisation:

The Workers Compensation Commission resolves workers compensation disputes between injured workers and employers. The Commission is an independent statutory tribunal within the justice system in New South Wales. The dispute resolution model implements the objectives of the Commission as set out in section 367(1) of the Workplace Injury Management and Workers Compensation Act 1998. The Commission is committed to providing a transparent and independent forum for the fair just, timely and cost effective resolution of workers compensation disputes in New South Wales.

About the role:

The Workers Compensation Commission of NSW seeks applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons for appointment to the positions of Senior Arbitrator and Arbitrator. Senior Arbitrators and full-time Arbitrators are based in Sydney. Sessional Arbitrators may be based in Sydney or regional locations. Some travel may be required. Full-time Senior Arbitrators and Arbitrators receive an attractive salary. Sessional Arbitrators are remunerated under a fee schedule. Appointments will be made for terms up to five years, with eligibility for reappointment. Senior Arbitrators and Arbitrators exercise quasi-judicial functions involving conciliation and arbitration of disputes under the NSW workers compensation legislation.

Experience:

Ideally, applicants will be qualified legal practitioners with sound knowledge of workers compensation law and practice, coupled with demonstrated alternative dispute resolution and facilitation skills and experience.
