McCallum Medal
McCallum Medal Competition
The McCallum Medal is an annual public speaking event for young lawyers and students interested in employment law and industrial relations.
Sponsored by Clayton Utz, Thomson Reuters and The College of Law, the Competition is named in honour of Professor Ron McCallum, a patron of NSW Young Lawyers and a leading academic in the field.
2011 Competition
The 2011 Competition will be held on Wednesday, 19 October at Clayton Utz, Level 15, 1 Bligh Street Sydney NSW 2000, from 6.00pm (registrations from 5.45pm).
The Competiton will be chaired by Professor Ron McCallum AO, former Dean of the Faculty of Law, Unversity of Sydney.
There will be great prizes for the best presenters and all finalists receive a certificate of participation. For more information, click here.
Who can enter
All law and PLT students throughout Australia and all young lawyers throughout Australia, who were admitted to legal practice on or after 19 October 2009.
What you need to do
Prepare a presentation synopsis on one of the set employment law and industrial relations topics outlined in the 2011 McCallum Medal Competition Rules.
The three part synopsis (1,150 words maximum) must be submitted to the NSW Young Lawyers Employment & Industrial Law Committee by 5:00 pm on Monday, 3 October 2011.
Five finalists will then be chosen to deliver a presentation on their topic on Wednesday, 19 October. The five finalists will be notified by Wednesday, 5 October 2011.
