
Activities and events
Due to the diversity, talent and dedication of our members, the Civil Litigation Committee is one of the most active in the country and highly regarded in the profession.
Our activities focus on:
- promoting the administration of justice and ensuring that dispute resolution in New South Wales is just, affordable and timely

- offering personal and professional development opportunities that inspire and challenge members to achieve excellence
- producing high-quality submissions to government and law reform bodies on dispute resolution practice and professional issues
- offering respected and valued guidance to members on issues in dispute resolution in the form of considered and objective opinions
- eliminating barriers for law students and young lawyers in our profession that hinder them from having fulfilling careers by advocating and implementing timely, considered and practical solutions
- eliminating the barriers faced by women and other minority groups in achieving equal status in our profession through investigating, implementing and promoting practical solutions to overcome these barriers
- designing and delivering exceptional CLE programs and services covering topics in the dispute resolution field by making them the most stimulating, relevant and practical on offer by any organisation
- enriching the collegiate nature of our profession by creating opportunities for barristers, lawyers and law students to interact and build lasting relationships of rapport, respect, and mentoring
- conferring and cooperating with local, interstate and overseas organisations to facilitate mutually beneficial exchanges between young lawyers in other jurisdictions as dispute resolution practice becomes globalised
- engendering respect for the rule of law and improving access to justice by undertaking and encouraging pro bono service by all practitioners.
Events
Continuing Legal Education (CLE) is an important area of our Committee’s work, providing our profession the opportunity to keep up with recent developments in the law. Our committee organises a number of diverse range of seminars throughout the year presented by relevant, informative and accomplished speakers.
