In this introductory seminar, our speaker Tom Lickess of the Tax Controversy team at Deloitte, will provide an overview of the ATO Risk Review process and the Access and Information powers at the disposal of the ATO.

He will cover the following areas, using recent experiences and case studies to highlight key issues:

ATO Access & Information Gathering Powers including

  • formal and informal powers
  • practical points on the application of these powers
  • what we are seeing in practice

Taxpayer Information Rights including

  • Client Legal Privilege / ‘Legal Professional Privilege’
  • ‘Accountant’s Concession’
  • other administrative concessions

Tom Lickess is an Account Director in the Deloitte Tax Controversy team with more than 12 years UK and Australian corporate and international tax experience, focussing on all areas of ATO activity and Administrative Tax Law matters.
