Aims

In this CLE seminar Paul Monaghan, Senior Ethics Lawyer of The Law Society of NSW, will provide an introduction into the practical aspects of ethics.

Designed for young lawyers or those practitioners seeking a refresher, this seminar will cover current issues and common scenarios in the area of ethics as well as an overview of the new Legal Profession National Law Australian Solicitors’ Conduct Rules and its impact on practitioners.

Paul will highlight:

  • Relations to clients – conflict of interest and confidentiality
  • Duties to the court
  • Relations with other lawyers and third parties

This seminar may assist practitioners to meet a portion of the mandatory requirements of Solicitors Rule 42 MCLE, specifically 42.1.6 that practitioners must complete at least one (1) MCLE unit in each of the following fields:

  • 42.1.6.1 Ethics and Professional Responsibility
  • 42.1.6.2 Practice Management and business skills
  • 42.1.6.3 Professional skills
